For one of our clients, a multinational real estate development and investment company, we are looking for a

Senior Accountant

who will be responsible in managing complex accounting tasks (including preparing tax returns) and who will contribute to the efficiency and financial transparency of the company.

Job Description:

  • Ensures accounting records for allocated companies covering the entire range of transactions (fixed assets, inventory, third-party accounting, treasury, expense and revenue accounting, financial result calculation).
  • Responsible for preparing monthly trial balance for allocated companies.
  • Responsible for daily operation of supplier invoices and their transmission for payment, verification of bank balances, cash and treasury advances in local currency, correct allocation of documents recorded on revenue/expenses and budget code allocation, operation of invoices issued in accounting, allocation of receipts on invoices and in advance.
  • Verifies supplier invoices in accordance with internal rules (existence of signed contract, warranty and insurance, as well as tax residence certificate if applicable).
  • Engages in discussions (by phone or email) with suppliers and customers to obtain documents, balance confirmations, and other necessary information.
  • Occasionally, if needed, carries out treasury activities as required: prepares payment orders, external payment instructions, declarations for external receipts, negotiates exchange rates for currency sales/purchases, withdraws cash.
  • Occasionally, if needed, responsible for carrying out current cashier operations and ensuring compliance with cash discipline, cash operational regulations, and other provisions regarding cash transactions for the allocated portfolio.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliation of balances from sales and purchase module with balances of accounting accounts 411, 461 and 401, 404 (in local currency and foreign currency), as well as reports on cost situation and comparison with the budget.
  • Monthly verifies the correlation of sales and purchase journals with invoices and ledger sheets according to the tax period and prepares monthly trial balance as well as semi-annual/annual financial statements.
  • Administers the fixed assets module, calculates and verifies depreciation; conducts annual physical inventory of fixed assets.
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly tax returns in accordance with current legal provisions, using the correct versions of the programs provided by the tax authorities; prepares accounting and tax registers in accordance with the law. Maintains relationship with tax authorities and local tax office, verifies taxpayer records, obtains tax clearance certificates, follows up on amounts due, etc.
  • Responsible for archiving, circulation, and storage of accounting documents in accordance with the internal policies of the department/company.
  • Prepares quarterly and occasional documentation and information necessary for the conduct of audits (ledger sheets, confirmation request letters, other information and documents) under the guidance of the Chief Accountant;
  • Stays informed about legal changes in the accounting and tax fields.
  • Ensure good collaboration with colleagues from the finance-accounting department and from other departments.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Higher education in economics;
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar position and industry;
  • Knowledge of SAP operation or similar accounting systems is an advantage;
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office package, especially intermediate/advanced level Excel;
  • Mastery of accounting and financial procedures and norms;
  • English language skills - medium level (written and spoken);
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Detail-oriented person with analytical sense and willingness to learn;
  • Adherence to deadlines.
