Responsibilities

• The Data Engineer (I) will be part of a mix of projects involving Data Engineering activities across the internal Product Development or Product Enablement streams.
• When involved in Product Enablement engagements, the Data Engineering efforts would be centered on enablement and customizations activities for clients in the Commercial Real Estate industry – activities which follow the general Product Development lifecycle.
• Help with implementing new Cloud Data Platform features using a mix of SQL, Python and dbt
• Participate in reviewing existing components/features of the Cloud Data Platform periodically with more-experienced Data Engineers and support them in executing against improvement plans
• Participate in data modelling activities to design efficient and effective data structures that support data analysis and reporting requirements.
• Use version control systems like Git to collaborate with the team on code development and ensure proper versioning of data engineering artifacts
• Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to understand data requirements and provide support for data analysis and reporting
• Assist in identifying and resolving data-related issues and errors, working with the team to implement appropriate solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills in collecting, organizing, and analyzing significant amounts of data
• Knowledge of a typical SDLC
• Good understanding of methodologies employed for building Data Warehouses/Data Lakes and data modelling practices (relational, entity-relationship, object-oriented, flat, query-first)
• Working understanding of imperative database deployment patterns
• Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work independently, with separate groups and teams, utilizing solid communication skills.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Willingness to learn and adapt to recent technologies and tools in the fast-evolving data engineering landscape.
• Practical experience gained through internships, personal projects, or contributions to open source projects is a plus SQL database querying and scripting
• Knowledge of a scripting language (preferably Python) and Object-Oriented Programming / Functional Programming principles
• Knowledge regarding version control systems
• Represents a plus experience with any of the following: Design Patterns, AWS Lambda, Docker, Terraform, Snowflake, dbt (data build tool) / Dataform / similar, Azure App Functions
• Relevant B.S. or M.S. studies in Computer Science/Information Technology / Statistics / Mathematics / Management Information Systems
